A new kind of estate agency, rooted in Edinburgh.
For me, selling a home should never feel like being passed from one person or department to another. You should know who is looking after your property, who to call when you have a question and who is responsible for keeping your sale moving.
That is why I keep the number of homes I take on small, and why I stay involved from the first valuation and preparation of your home through to marketing, viewings, negotiation and completion. You get clear advice, and you always know exactly who is looking after your sale.

The person behind Rowan
Toby Brewster-Mackinnon
I began my career in professional valuation with Colliers, including work on the Crown Estate's residential portfolio, before moving into international property projects, luxury residential development and roles with Savills and Caudwell. Returning to Edinburgh, I worked with Rettie, getting to know the city's residential market and the neighbourhoods that make it distinctive.
That experience shapes how I approach every sale: understanding value, positioning a property carefully and managing every step from valuation to completion. I also work with trusted professionals across property, finance and home services, so you have good people around you at every stage.
Away from property, you'll usually find me cooking, playing tennis, watching rugby or exploring Edinburgh with my Border Terrier, Toots.
Why the rowan tree?
The rowan tree has deep roots in Scottish history and folklore. For centuries it was planted beside cottage doors and garden gates, where it was believed to watch over the home and the people in it. Travellers carried a sprig for safe passage, and it was long considered bad luck to cut one down.
It is also one of Scotland's hardiest trees, growing in places where little else will and coming back each spring with white blossom, followed by bright red berries in autumn. Over time it became a symbol of protection, resilience and new beginnings.
Those ideas felt particularly fitting for a business centred around homes and helping people navigate periods of change. Moving is one of the biggest steps most of us take, and I wanted a name that stood for looking after people through it.
